Ocean Beach is a neighborhood of San Diego that feels like a 1960’s beach community complete with head shops, t-shirt & gift shops, coffee shops, bars, and individually owned restaurants. Sandwiched between Pacific Beach and Point Loma, this is the place for old hippies and beach bums alike!
Homes here are a blended mix of small cottages, single family homes, condos, town homes, and apartments. Construction is older with homes dating as far back as the 1930’s.
Most condo complexes are small, similar to those found in North Park, Hillcrest, and Normal Heights. Of note is ‘Casa De La Playa’, an ocean front complex. There have been a number of tear downs and remodels over the years as investors take advantage of this community’s desirability for renters and vacation renters.
Condos start in the $300’s and homes start in the $500’s.
A fabulous resource for this community is the ‘Ocean Beach Mainstreet Association.’ This website offers up-to date information about community activities, shops, restaurants and so much more. If you are looking for a laid back, small town feel of a beach town, this is a great community to check out.
